Anthony and her co-editors Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Matilda Joslin Gage completed the first volume of what would eventually become the six-volume History of Woman Suffrage. As publisher of The Revolution newspaper during Reconstruction, and later as organizer of the National Woman Suffrage Assocation and president of its successor the National American Woman Suffrage Association, she was long recognized as the leading advocate for women’s voting rights in the United States.
